If you've ever purchased a "fixer-upper" like I have, you well know that the remodeling is seemingly endless and often daunting.
Structurally, we have no issues. Decor? That's a completely different story. It's like living in a 80's flashback that never goes away. (shudder)
side note: If anyone is looking for a million brass fixtures, let me know!
We are making progress, at a much slower rate than initially expected, of course. In part, the rate is due to our very full schedules. A larger part due to my hesitation to commit to a new color or fixture.
Why hesitate? Especially when surrounded by brass? The options are overwhelming and I can't seem to help but to consider them all!
Add to the mix a strong desire to "go greener"; that adds a tremendous amount of additional research!
I was so grateful to be given an opportunity to review Lori Dennis' book, Green Interior Design!
While a chapter titled "What to do when you are drowning in brass" is suspiciously missing, Green Interior Design is a thorough, educated read and a fantastic guide to greener up your home!

“When you’re sick and running out of resources, it makes sense to return to healthy approaches and conservation. Everyone has heard about being green and millions of people are trying it out to see if it works for them,” observes Dennis. “I like to think of a time in the near future when we don’t need to specify ‘green’ anymore. Things will just be made with consideration for the environment and our health as common practice.”
Every step of your design way, Green Interior Design can provide education and guidance, in a clear, easy to follow format, with over 100 color photographs clearly illustrating the green vision.
I am excited about, at long last, making a decision about new window treatments, after a helpful review of Chapter Three and Lori's detailed breakdown of treatment fabrics and what to really look for! I am much more confident about my selections, armed with the information from Lori's work.
