Don't Blink Or You'll Miss It ~ #PreservingMemories ~ The UPS Store & iMemories

From precious baby feet,

to precocious toddler feet,

to pensive, pondering feet

and, even, pink puppy feet,

parents are genetically engineered to capture all wondrous stages of our children's adventures, as well as their feet, on film.  Who can blame us?  Our children, both of the two-legged and four-legged varieties are wonders to behold.  While our memories might ebb and fade, having both still and action memories preserved  in picture and on film is very important to us.  Just as I do, you likely have countless video tapes, documenting the ordinary to extraordinary; each one as special as the next.

However, did you know, as I have just recently learned, that videotape has a shelf life?  Oh, yes.  If stored properly, your carefully recorded memories are safe for approximately 10-15 years.  My eldest is weeks away from her 16th birthday.  Everything we have ever recorded of her, from birth to now, is on videotape.

I'm certain you can sense my building Mother's panic.

By twist of fate, I was recently introduced to iMemories, a service that safely transfers your prized memory collection digitally to DVDs.  In fact, I just shipped off a number of my tapes today, via my nearby UPS Store.  The process thus far has been surprisingly simple.  I grabbed some tapes, filled out two of the shortest forms known to mankind and handed the lot over to the helpful staff at the UPS Store.  After carefully verifying the details and shipping address and claimed insurance amount, they nestled my tapes securing in packaging and shipped the works out to iMemories for processing.

Within a few days, I should receive email confirmation from iMemories and will complete the processing of my order online.   After time for processing, I'll receive my memories via UPS shipment in their new, DVD format.

Beyond being thrilled to digitally preserve our special moments, I love that the process of using iMemories through the UPS Store has been so simple, thus far.  My hectic schedule demands simplicity!

Stay tuned for a more in depth pictorial exploration of my experiences, to be shared at the conclusion of this process!  In the meantime, find your video tapes!

I didn't realize vhs tapes had a shelf life, though I am sure I should have. I will have to check this out because I have some feet of my own kids that need preserving.
