Coupons Help Make A Meaningful Difference ~ All You & Champions For Kids SIMPLE Service Project

Readers will remember my recent sharing, about my family's new adventure in Couponing for Good, part of the Champions For Kids SIMPLE service project.

Although we've never been aggressive coupon users, we are fast becoming aggressive in our efforts and desire to reach out to children and families in need in our community!  With each trip to the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, our takeaway is bittersweet, leaving us both glad that we make the effort, yet frustrated by the overwhelming need in our community.

Through All You's March 2012 edition, I experienced the most profound "Oh!" moment, having been introduced to the idea of Couponing For Good!  What a fantastic way to stretch our family's budget for giving;  by combining in store savings with coupons, we can give even more!

With very minimal effort, we discovered that building a veritable treasure trove of coupons was incredibly simple to do, putting this Mom to shame for having neglected to take advantage of this oh, so obvious easy savings opportunity for my family.  We started our collection with All You, a magazine known to pay for itself time over, through the coupons within, as well as great features to help stretch and maximize any family's budget.  A few Sunday newspaper editions and a quick search of Walmart's online coupon source resulted in hundreds of dollars in potential savings.

Although we utilized our coupon savings at Walmart stretch our giving budget, enabling us to purchase higher priced health items, like vitamins and medicine that would normally use most of our budget, continuing to add to our treasure trove of coupons certainly opens to the door for more aggressive savings opportunities.  Combining coupon savings with store ads makes the potential for savings and giving endless; exponential opportunities to make a meaningful difference in my community!

While my coupon skills are certainly less than "mad", for our first effort we were able to reduce our cost of giving by over 30%!  This Mom thinks increasing our giving by 30% is a tremendous gain, but I'm motivated by the experience to push that percentage, to see just how far I can go for good!

My family supports an area rescue shelter with our giving efforts.  After learning their facilities house 30 to 50 children each night, I have no doubt that our contributions are needed.

As SIMPLE as taking a few coupons shopping,
grabbing a few items
and a quick drive for drop off
 ~ a meal for a hungry child.

I LOVE this post! It's amazing what coupons can do, not only in stretching your own budget, but allowing you to give in ways that would not be possible otherwise.

Isn't it amazing how we can save with coupons? I coupon every week but never thought about using the savings to help others until I did this project. Now it's my "new way to give!" :) Great job on your end!
