Enriching Family Summer Activities ~ Spreading Love To Pets In Need

My family is preparing for another trip to spread love and supplies at at the Capitol Area Humane Society.  Visits are always bittersweet as we love to spend time with the wonderful pets waiting for their forever homes but our hearts break at leaving them behind.

We find the pets in waiting to be so friendly, full of love and eager to please.  Most quite obedient and simply wanting to love and be loved.

It fill my heart to see a pet adopted while we are visiting; their long, patient wait finally over.  Walking out of the facility, I can never bear to watch the faces of the pets still waiting, most yet optimistic, others disheartened..

Visiting the Humane Society is an outing involving our full family.  A lesson in caring and volunteerism that this Mom feels is an essential experience for my children.  Although adopting new pets is not an option for my family at this time, taking time out of an afternoon to pamper lonely pets in waiting and purchasing a few items to donate for the animals care is easily within our means and schedule.

Please consider sharing your time and a modest amount of your resources with a local animal shelter this summer.  The pets in waiting will reward you for your efforts and your family will benefit from the time together, sharing and caring for pets in need.

Oh, I want to take them all home. I always tell my husband I wish we lived on a huge farm and I could have twenty dogs. Trust me if I could I would! Rescues make some of the best companions

I completely know what you mean! When I was younger, that was my grand plan: to own a farm so I could save all the pets in the kill shelters and let them free range :)

Awww, my heart breaks for dogs. Bryan won't even let me go to the high kill animal shelter because I try to bring them all home.

How could you say no to any of those faces?

My heart goes out to dogs who need homes. We have decided not to get another one but you are right in that I could donate food and money for their needs. With your photo skills your developing you could volunteer to take photos for the humane society web page. I read where a photographer was doing that and the dogs were being adopted faster because of the quality of photos on the site.
