How To Give Dad's Health A Boost For Father's Day

There is no way around it:
Healthy Dads are happier Dads.

My husband, fortunately, is a fairly healthy guy.  He stays active (our 100+lb Labrador helps a bit ) and visits our family doctor regularly for all the exciting new prods, pokes and measurements of health that come with middle age.

Out of all members of our family, he is the least likely to succumb to the latest bug going around and, quite frankly, typically is ill only once a year on average.  Beyond being pleased about his good health, this Mom doesn't mind at all because he is an absolute BEAR when he is ill.

Even his metabolism seems to be fairing better than my own, now that we are both in our middle-ish years.  Despite his seemingly genetic advantage in aging, he is not sporting the same physique as he did in his youth.  Not one to point out the negative, I'd rather focus on the positive and help him find ways to combat the effects of his penchant for sweet, baked delights.  Rather than deny him a few sweet treat vices, I look for other ways to help keep this Dad healthy and happy, in appreciation for all he does for our family.

A wonderful way to help "manage"  his diet without reminding him that his Super Dad cape may be becoming a bit faded is to encourage portion control in the kitchen.  Rather than opening make suggestions at the dinner table, using a kitchen scale I can ensure the meals I serve him suit his needs, rather than his bear-like appetite.  In all honesty, some added portion control won't hurt this Mom's aging girlish figure, either!

Of course, the availability of a quality kitchen scale during your meal preparation is key to the success of this strategy.  Although there are many styles of kitchen scales available, this Mom recently found herself quite taken with a stylish model from Eat Smart, the Precision Retro Mechanical Kitchen Scale™ to be precise!

Keeping Dad healthy and happy through portion control with the Eat Smart Retro scale!

This kitchen scale is not only functional but oh, so attractive.  While most standard scales would be relegated to a dark corner of my kitchen cabinets, this smart model is so appealing, I had to grant it a special spot on my kitchen counter.  All for the best, as I am certain I use it more because of its convenient placement.  In sight and on this Mom's mind!  Although generously sized, the Precision Retro Scale measures in increments as small as 1 ounce or 25 grams and up to a maximum capacity of 14 lbs or 5 kgs.  The big, bright dial is easy to read and this Mom certainly appreciates the stylish look of the brushed stainless steel.

The Precision Scale is shipped fully assembled.  One merely needs to set the weight of the removable stainless steel bowl with an easy to manipulate adjustment dial and you are ready to go.   The surface of this attractive scale is easy to keep clean and has certainly caught the admiring attention of all guest who've joined me in the kitchen.  Easy to use and seemingly quite accurate, the Eat Smart Precision Retro Scale is a welcomed addition to my kitchen!

Eat Smart Precision Retro Scale measures in 1oz increments up to 14lbs!

Pleased with the Retro Kitchen Scale, I was happy to learn that Eat Smart also offers a full line of bathroom scales, as well as luggage scales.  The Eat Smart™ Precision Gel Fit Digital Body Fat Scale also caught my attention, although I must admit, the thought of using it frightened me just a bit!  All the more reason to add it to this Moms healthy arsenal!

EatSmart Precision GetFit quickly and easily measures body fat, body water, body muscle and bone mass using newest ITO BIA technology

Great gift idea for fathers day, my hubbie loves to cook and really does need some good scales rather than the one he currently uses.
