When we first moved into our home, preparing and personalizing the kid's rooms was a top priority. Not only did my husband and I want them to make their new spaces their own, we hoped to help the transition of our move, so close to the beginning of a new school year, as pleasant as possible. Predictably, the Teen Diva selecting bright and bold colors for her bedroom.
In the condo, her room was decorated in a virtual rainbow of color, with a patterned multi-colored comforter, with window dressings and all manner of decorative pillows pulling out the favorite hues from the bedding. Painting her dresser, again in a color taken from her bedding theme and adding decorative pulls to her furniture and closet doors helped to tie the room together.
Decorating Tip
For decorating bedrooms, determine which colors your child wants to use in the room and explore bedding choices before painting your walls. Although bedding is available in a wide range of styles, colors and patterns, the bed will be the focal point in the room. It is much easier to match your paint color to the bedding than matching your bedding to a pre-selected paint color.
After years of off white walls in the condo, my daughter was excited to carry her bright style choices to the walls of her new bedroom. Abandoning the multi-colored theme, as a young teen, she selected a shade of lime green for her walls, with raspberry bedding and accents. Inviting a small gaggle of her best gal pals for a painting party, her room was quickly transformed, leaving this Mom a bit of post party touching up to do.
Decorating Tip
After filling rough spots and existing holes in wall, sand smooth with medium grade then fine grade sandpaper. If existing wall paint is glossy or semi glossy, all painted surfaces must be lightly sanded. These paints are most often found on doors and trims, although occasionally on walls. Remove all dust prior to painting, using extension tube on vacuum or shop vac with brush attachment. Go over all areas to be painted with a tacky cloth, available at any home improvement store, to remove dust residue to ensure a smooth, clean finish.
Now heading into her Senior year of high school, the Teen Diva's tastes have changed again. Although she'll soon be off to college, this Mom is more than happy to help her update her teen haven once again, especially considering her wall color choice will be a more neutral color than bright lime! With a cheetah theme in mind, both for now as well as for her college dorm room for next year, the Teen Diva has opted to outfit her room in cheetah. Having selected a fun rug for her floor to guide the rest of the decor choices, adding a simple, solid colored bedding set is most appropriate.
Much to my delight, her flooring choice calls for a much softer tone for the wall color. With flooring and a new bedding set selected, after painting her walls in a neutral theme, as well as stripping and re-staining the cherry wood door which is currently washed in raspberry, we'll shop for fun accents to complete the look. We found the perfect bedding set from BeyondBedding.com to begin our transition. The Black Diamond Jacquard set arrived well protected in a heavy duty zippered bag, in the queen size we ordered, complete with two matching pillow shams. This Mom loves that this bedding set in black is easily washable and well constructed. Soft and comfortable, this new bedding set is a wonderful addition to the new look in progress for the Teen Diva's room!

WE have one of their sets for my daughter to take to college. It's packed in my trunk right now and ready to go!
Funny Pam said that, I have a set all packed up in Gia's closet waiting for her new bed ;) They have some cute sets!
My oldest has that exact same set! Love how versatile it is and all grown up too :)
love it- how cute!
My daughters are seriously eying for the animal prints for months now, and kept pleading to buy them the girls bedding sets and twin bunk bed we saw at Target. It has zebra headboard and pink sheets. Too girly!
