Chocolate Halloween Treats

Every fall I am anxious for the first day of October to roll around.  Why?  Early October is when my family starts dressing our house for Halloween!  Although it does take some time to have all our Halloween decor in place, both indoor and outdoor, we add items gradually as we progress through the month.  Our goal is to be the most festive house in our neighborhood and we certainly have stiff competition!

I can still remember the electric delight of approaching the spookiest house as a young trick-or-treater.  Too frightened to approach the door yet too enraptured to walk past, my neighbors efforts to send chills down the neighborhood children's spines was much appreciated.

Although my children, now pre-teen and teen, would be happy to take our Halloween efforts to the far end of spooky, we do try to hit a happy medium between eerie and enchanting, to accommodate our annual visitors of all ages, both the brave and the bashful.

Of course, there is little doubt that a significant part of the enchantment of Halloween are the sweet treats beckoning visitors, even in the often adverse Michigan weather.  There is a certain sense of satisfaction in offering the most tempting treats on the block!
