Fall Gardening ~ Flowering Bulbs ~ Amazon Gift Code Give Away

I will readily admit I have a growing passion for all things flowering, whether annuals, perennials or flowering shrubs.  I look forward to digging into my garden every spring, petting and dead-heading my way through the summer, planning and plotting out my new additions.  Combing the local garden stores and nurseries is a treat for me, if not for my poor Hubs who invariably is obligated to tag along, albeit impatiently.

Despite this passion for blossoming wonders, this Mom has yet to venture into the green world of flowering bulbs.  A gardening adventure that has consistently been present on my annual gardening to do list, however yet to be tackled.  I chalk this procrastination up to the chaos of spring predictability in Michigan and the oh, so busy fall seasons for my family.

Yet, despite the challenges, my garden beds will certainly benefit from the effort, with longer seasons of color  and more graceful transitions from season to season.  With a penchant for blues and purples in the garden, Crocus, Hyacinth and Irises are certainly on my short list.

Having the right tools to do the job will make the task of working autumn bulb planting into my busy fall schedule just that much easier.  For adding new residents to my beds, this weekend gardener uses a simple collection of gardening tools: a thick, foam kneeling pad, wide digging trowel, narrow transplanting trowel, cultivator and v-grooved weeder.

Before digging in to my cool weather gardening project, especially as this will be my first adventure in working with bulbs and rhizomes, I will be certain to do a bit of research to ensure my efforts are fruitful, adding to the color and bloom of my flower bed, rather than adding to my frustration.
