Best Building Toys For Boys ~ @KNEX Atomic Coaster Give Away

With a budding engineer in house, I have learned the importance of keeping him well-stocked in challenges and building kits.  The danger in not doing so has led to finding surprises all over the house, involving intricate and complex creations comprised of a variety of household staples, including every rubber band, string and paperclip in the house.  In my search to feed his need to build and create, I discovered K'nex building sets a few years ago and they are solidly on our holiday and birthday must have lists.

Why Building Sets?

Even before my son was ready to explore K'nex, my husband and I were familiar with these flexible and creative sets as our older daughter enjoyed them at a certain age.  As with many children, after becoming fascinated and eventually mastering simple to moderate level puzzles around the age of five, she segued into a passion for discovering how things can be created.

Best Toys For Boys, 9-11yr old Boy Toys, Creative Construction Sets For Kids

Our son took this natural progression of curiosity a bit further and became fascinated, not only with construction, rather also with deconstruction.  My husband and I soon learned that the fun gift of a junior tool set, while a treasure to our son, resulted in a variety of unauthorized investigations about the house, resulting in mystery washers and bolts appearing near various pieces of furniture and the removal of a number of toy talk boxes.  If only we had availed ourselves to creative kits for young children, like the K'nex Kid line!

Why K'nex?

Although we certainly admired his ambition and drive to learn and explore, my husband and I found ourselves filled with pressing motivation to provide our son with appropriate building and construction materials.  Tops on our list, after our positive prior experience with his older sister, were K'nex building sets.

K'nex Thrill Rides Building Sets, K'nex Gifts, Best Gifts For Boys

K'nex building sets are available in a variety of sizes and prices, with each set containing a wealth of connecting pieces for constructing particular projects.  Each kit contains easy to follow instructions, with text and large visual diagrams, to help your building crew accomplish their goal.  Unlike some other building kits we've tried, the larger K'nex sets do require a bit of time and patience to assemble, which is a huge advantage to my mind!  Rather than quickly assembled and forgotten, the K'nex sets provide the perfect opportunity for my son and husband and even myself to get involved in a fun, constructive family project.  The perfect excuse to take time out together to bond and have fun, reinforcing the importance of commitment to a task to reap the final rewards.

K'nex Atomic Coaster, New K'nex Building Sets

After the construction project is completed, the larger K'nex sets offer additional ways to interact and have fun.  Most recently, my family enjoyed constructing the K'nex Atomic Coaster and engaging in the motorized roller coaster action is just as fun as putting it together!  With the completed project standing over four feet tall and including dueling, racing cars and the motorized track, complete with curves, turns and twists to rival the most fearsome roller coasters at any theme park, the reward of completing this K'nex project was a treat for the whole family and one my son was anxious to share with his friends!

Toys For 9-11 Boys, Creative Construction Sets

Beyond the intended fun of constructing the specific project, as is common with any toy or building set of specific use, I love that my son can also enjoy the deconstruction of his project, the flexibility of developing and creating his own roller coaster design, as well as use the set's pieces with his other K'nex kits.  This universal compatibility within the K'nex products promotes creativity, making the K'nex sets a gift that will be used for years to come, rather than just a few weeks or months

Best Gifts For Boys, Construction Set Gifts For Boys

Always innovating, K'nex regularly offers new sets, perfect for gift giving for the building fanatic on your holiday list or for upcoming birthdays!  To personalize your choice, you can select from a variety of themed categories to match your young engineers interests, including Mario Kart, Monster Jam, NASCAR and Thrill Rides.  To promote creativity, K'nex offers Value Tubs of essential K'nex pieces, along with kits with the pieces and instructions to create over twenty different models. K'nex building sets for younger children, ages three and up are available in the colorful K'nex Kids line.  For construction loving kids from nine to ninety will enjoy working together on the themed sets, such as the new Thrill Ride kits: Son of Serpent Coaster, Firestorm Freefall Coaster, Phoenix Fury Coaster and the Atomic Coaster we created.
